Diageo World Class Kenya is back for another epic year- 2017! On it's 3rd successful year running, expect more flair and creativity as Kenyan bartenders prepare for the coolest mixology competition ever.
World Class (now on its 9th Year) is actually the world’s biggest and most reputable cocktail competition and is the ultimate test of bartending skill. At every stage of the competition, entrants are usually expected to create cutting-edge cocktails, make great contacts and face amazing new challenges.
It was an interactive event that saw presentations about the World Class competition from Alex Kavita – Brand ambassador EABL as well as Singleton and Don Julio tasting sessions from Douglas Duncanson – Senior Brand Ambassador for East Africa.
A special afternoon session saw (Diageo World Class Kenya 2016 winner) Joan Samia get behind the bar and create some premium based cocktails with Ron Zacapa rum and Tanqueray No. Ten Gin which barskenya was privileged to sample and judge. Uniquely mixed, the two cocktails were definitely an indication of why Joan made it to crop last year.
The cocktail making session was followed by a Q&A where Joan shared her experience in Miami where the 2016 global final was held.
