Kenyan Bartenders to Compete in the Bacardi Legacy Competition for the First Time Ever

Bacardi Legacy is a cocktail competition that is on the lookout for the next big take on modern Bacardi rum based cocktails.

The competition has been ongoing for a decade and now for the first time Kenyan bartenders can participate.

The competition is open to bartenders over the age of 21 and who currently work in a bar in Kenya. This is because the competition will also highlight the bar the bartenders work in and support them to push the cocktails for a period of time.

Kenya is part of the wild card entry the Africa and Middle East region. Other countries that are officially in this region are Tanzania, Ghana, Nigeria, Lebanon and Israel. The initial stages of the competition will happen on an online platform where the bartenders can send pictures, recipes and then at a later stage videos of their cocktails. The website also has more details on the judging criteria with emphasis on aspects such as ingredients, originality, performance, visual appeal and naming. More details available here.

Some tips provided to stand a chance to have a winning drink include having fun and being yourself when taking part. Researching and also knowing the Bacardis inside and out will also put you ahead of the competition.

The deadline to submit entries is 14th August 2019.
