Kelvin Thairu or Slyes Cocktails as he goes by on Instagram is a familiar face in the Kenyan bartender's competition circuit. When you meet him, the first thing you notice is his bubbly personality. Kelvin, who's mostly worked with high end hotel, cocktails are always a hit and it comes as no surprise that he has finally won the Rèmy Martin cocktail competition that happened to be at his home turf.
Rémy Cointreau organised the first Rémy Martin bartender competition this August the 26th, that was a unique and thrilling competition to build a close relationship with the bartenders. They shortlisted the competing bars from the outlets that push the most of the cognac. The contestants presented to the judges a free creation using Rémy Martin VSOP as a base.
Judges who included King Kaka, Benu Kundra and Rémy's brand activator in East Africa were looking out for the drink's story, creativity and taste. On arrival, the guests will have the treat to taste the “King Kaka” cocktail, specially crafted during his visit to Cognac, back in May.
We wish Kelvin all the best as he goes on to represent Kenya and participate in a 3-day live experience and educational program in France.
